Sustainability in UK building design and construction is no longer optional. What was once considered best practice has now become an expectation, driven by tighter regulations, client demands and national net-zero targets. Across commercial, education, healthcare and public-sector projects, sustainability is a core consideration from concept through to completion.
As a result, architects, designers and contractors are under increasing pressure to specify products that demonstrate verified environmental performance.
Making responsible design decisions relies on understanding the full environmental impact of specified products. Skyfold supports this by providing independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), offering transparent, reliable data on the environmental performance of its movable wall systems.
By publishing EPDs across its flexible space solutions, Skyfold is among the first manufacturers in the movable wall sector to do so, helping UK specifiers align with sustainability targets and green building standards.
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardised, independently verified document that reports a product’s environmental impact using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). LCA evaluates impacts across the entire product lifecycle, from raw material sourcing and manufacturing through transportation, installation, use, maintenance and end-of-life options such as recycling or disposal.
Prepared in line with international ISO standards, EPDs are widely recognised across the UK construction industry as a trusted source of comparable environmental data.
Skyfold’s EPDs are produced through the SCS Global Services EPD Programme, independently verified, and published in the SCS Certified Green Products Guide.
Skyfold’s EPDs follow a full cradle-to-grave approach, assessing environmental impacts across all stages of the product lifecycle, including materials, manufacturing, transport, installation, operation, maintenance and end-of-life scenarios.
This comprehensive approach supports informed, sustainable decision-making throughout the design and specification process.
EPDs provide clear, objective insight into a product’s environmental performance, helping architects, designers, consultants and contractors select more sustainable solutions.
They also support environmental assessment and certification frameworks such as BREEAM, LEED, WELL and Green Globes, as well as wider ESG and carbon-reduction strategies, enabling more accurate environmental reporting and compliance.
EPD verification confirms that Skyfold’s environmental performance data has been independently assessed, giving specifiers confidence that sustainability claims are credible and transparent.
The EPD process also helps Skyfold continually review and improve its products, materials and manufacturing processes.
Skyfold’s Environmental Product Declarations are available to view and download free of charge via the SCS Certified Green Products Guide and the Sustainability section of Skyfold’s website, supporting specification, tender and certification requirements.

HBN 00-09 sets out these surface characteristics because unsealed joints are a recognised place for moisture and micro-organisms to collect. A genuinely joint-free edge is designed to address that specific detail.
This is a surface and edge specification, not a clinical claim. Zero-joint technology has not been evaluated or certified by NHS England, and does not claim to reduce infection rates.
Food-service and guest-facing areas are typically inspected under hygiene and housekeeping standards that look closely at surfaces and joints. A seamless, moisture-resistant edge is designed with exactly that kind of scrutiny in mind.
Every one of these sectors shares the same underlying surface problem: a bonded-strip edge is a seam, and a seam is a place where dirt, moisture or wear can concentrate in a way a continuous surface can't. Zero-joint technology addresses that one structural detail across offices, schools, healthcare and hospitality settings alike — one construction detail, one shared weak point removed, four sectors that each care about it for their own reasons.
