The Tower Gardens Pavilion in Skegness has been used as an auction house, a flag manufacturer and an American diner and pub.
From 2007 it stood mainly empty until 2019 when ELDC (East Lindsey District Council) transferred the site to Skegness Town Council and construction works began on a hall, a cafe, a full ’changing places’ disability toilet suite, and an office for the Town Council.
As part of the plan, Skegness Town Council had a desire to create flexible space in the main hall so that different events could be held concurrently, making best use of the space and maximising any room rental income.
Working with GF Tomlinson Building Limited, and Core Architects, Style was specified to install a DORMA Huppe Variflex moveable wall in the main hall.
When in position, the operable wall divides the space into 2 separate rooms; one larger and one smaller. Alternatively, the hall can be opened up and used as one expansive open plan space. An ideal configuration for catering for multiple events of different sizes each and every day.
Mike Fine, Style’s director for the Midlands said,
“This moveable wall installation at Tower Gardens Pavilion will enable the council to host multiple events thanks to the flexibility it provides, and the privacy delivered from its 55dB Rw acoustic integrity.
“The pearl grey finish perfectly suits the interior design of the room while providing a light, welcoming and modern environment to the hall, and it was a pleasure to be specified on a project that will reinvigorate an iconic building in this famous seaside town.
“The DORMA Huppe Variflex is also a very sustainable and cost-effective moveable wall.
“Not only does it carry an environmental product declaration (EPD) in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804, its panels are manufactured separately to the frame, which means that the panel linings are easy to change if one is damaged or scuffed, or the interior design of a room changes later on.”
Style is the exclusive UK partner to DORMA, Skyfold and SWG offering an extensive range of moveable walls for any requirement or budget.

HBN 00-09 sets out these surface characteristics because unsealed joints are a recognised place for moisture and micro-organisms to collect. A genuinely joint-free edge is designed to address that specific detail.
This is a surface and edge specification, not a clinical claim. Zero-joint technology has not been evaluated or certified by NHS England, and does not claim to reduce infection rates.
Food-service and guest-facing areas are typically inspected under hygiene and housekeeping standards that look closely at surfaces and joints. A seamless, moisture-resistant edge is designed with exactly that kind of scrutiny in mind.
Every one of these sectors shares the same underlying surface problem: a bonded-strip edge is a seam, and a seam is a place where dirt, moisture or wear can concentrate in a way a continuous surface can't. Zero-joint technology addresses that one structural detail across offices, schools, healthcare and hospitality settings alike — one construction detail, one shared weak point removed, four sectors that each care about it for their own reasons.
