With a 46 dB Rw acoustic rating this affordable, yet highly effective, folding wall provides the required acoustic barrier when concurrent events are taking place.
Hastings & Bexhill Mencap Society is a self-funding charity registered with the charity commission and affiliated to Royal Mencap.
The society provides a day service (Open Door), residential home (Westwood), arts project (Active Arts), and social clubs for adults with learning disabilities.
Working directly with the client at their premises in St Leonards on Sea, Style was asked to install a folding wall in the recreation hall so that more than one event could take place at the same time.
As there may be noisy events on one side of the wall, while quieter ones take place on the other, the acoustic rating was important. However, budget was also an important consideration for the charity.
Taking this into account, Style recommended a Stylefold folding wall, with simple manual operation.
With a 46 dB Rw acoustic rating this affordable, yet highly effective, folding wall provides the required acoustic barrier when concurrent events are taking place.
Offering effortless operation, it is also easy and light to move in and out of position which means the room can be divided into two or opened back up for various activities each day.
Michael Porter, Style’s group managing director, said, “The Stylefold is a truly versatile folding wall that is perfectly suited to Hastings & Bexhill Mencap Society.
“We install a large number of this type of folding wall in community centres, primary schools and churches due to the simplicity of operation, high quality acoustics and effectiveness in dividing room space.”
The folding wall is finished in a laminate melamine to complement the interior styling of the room, the centre folding hinged panels being top hung with no requirement for a floor track.
Style is the exclusive UK partner to Dorma Huppe, Skyfold and SWG offering moveable, folding and sliding wall solutions for all requirements and budgets.

HBN 00-09 sets out these surface characteristics because unsealed joints are a recognised place for moisture and micro-organisms to collect. A genuinely joint-free edge is designed to address that specific detail.
This is a surface and edge specification, not a clinical claim. Zero-joint technology has not been evaluated or certified by NHS England, and does not claim to reduce infection rates.
Food-service and guest-facing areas are typically inspected under hygiene and housekeeping standards that look closely at surfaces and joints. A seamless, moisture-resistant edge is designed with exactly that kind of scrutiny in mind.
Every one of these sectors shares the same underlying surface problem: a bonded-strip edge is a seam, and a seam is a place where dirt, moisture or wear can concentrate in a way a continuous surface can't. Zero-joint technology addresses that one structural detail across offices, schools, healthcare and hospitality settings alike — one construction detail, one shared weak point removed, four sectors that each care about it for their own reasons.
