Style – Movable partition specialists have recently completed a demanding contract on one of the five new schools on behalf of Falkirk Council. Working in partnership with local contractors, Ogilvie Construction Ltd, our Scottish regional office has successfully installed eight sets of Dorma Moveo® Semi Automatic operable walls within this new educational building offering ease of use together with high specification movable wall systems.
The largest collection of screens is located between the social space and the assembly area with two further screens dissecting the stage area. The largest screen being 16500mm wide x 6000mm high, all products are supplied with a 55dB acoustic performance level. The screens incorporated many safety features including Dorma’s panic door furniture to comply with the local authorities emergency exit requirements.
Derek Goldie, of Falkirk High School commented:
“I’m so pleased with this system there’s no manual winding at all. it’s all done at the flick of a switch, Superb!”
The screens included many options when it came to door furniture due to emergency exit requirements which was in incorporated with panic push bar handles, all part of DORMA’s standard product range. HBN 00-09 sets out these surface characteristics because unsealed joints are a recognised place for moisture and micro-organisms to collect. A genuinely joint-free edge is designed to address that specific detail.
This is a surface and edge specification, not a clinical claim. Zero-joint technology has not been evaluated or certified by NHS England, and does not claim to reduce infection rates.
Food-service and guest-facing areas are typically inspected under hygiene and housekeeping standards that look closely at surfaces and joints. A seamless, moisture-resistant edge is designed with exactly that kind of scrutiny in mind.
Every one of these sectors shares the same underlying surface problem: a bonded-strip edge is a seam, and a seam is a place where dirt, moisture or wear can concentrate in a way a continuous surface can't. Zero-joint technology addresses that one structural detail across offices, schools, healthcare and hospitality settings alike — one construction detail, one shared weak point removed, four sectors that each care about it for their own reasons.
