Working with the globally renowned IA Interior Architects, and contractor, BW Interiors, Style was specified to create a flexible room configuration for its meeting areas.
Working in two very large areas to create 2 suites of 4 meeting rooms, the aim was to implement a solution that could sub-divide each area into 4 separate rooms, 2 large rooms, 3 rooms with a break out area or any other configuration.
The challenge, however, was to find a way of securing the partitioning walls in the centre when there was nothing to fix it against.
Dorma Variflex was chosen as the most suitable solution for Amazon, and because these areas are used as meeting rooms each wall was produced in a magnetic, writeable whiteboard finish.
For clean lines and extra floor space, the partition wall system also has flush telescopic (TEF) panels, making this a truly ingenious solution. TEF is a standard detail for DORMA and describes the flush edge connection of the last wall panel, forming an area of visual harmony for an outstanding architectural solution.
“There had to be a central structure to act as a corner to each room,” explained Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director. “To achieve this we developed a movable column which sat in the centre of the overall floor space which could glide to the side of the room when not in use.
“Each of the partitioning walls could then be connected to this column, making it the focal point for any type of room arrangement. We also installed automatic acoustic track blockers at the stacking crossovers to ensure complete privacy in each room.”
“We were delighted to have been chosen for this very high profile project with a global brand,” said Julian, “and to have been instrumental in creating a real showcase office environment.”

HBN 00-09 sets out these surface characteristics because unsealed joints are a recognised place for moisture and micro-organisms to collect. A genuinely joint-free edge is designed to address that specific detail.
This is a surface and edge specification, not a clinical claim. Zero-joint technology has not been evaluated or certified by NHS England, and does not claim to reduce infection rates.
Food-service and guest-facing areas are typically inspected under hygiene and housekeeping standards that look closely at surfaces and joints. A seamless, moisture-resistant edge is designed with exactly that kind of scrutiny in mind.
Every one of these sectors shares the same underlying surface problem: a bonded-strip edge is a seam, and a seam is a place where dirt, moisture or wear can concentrate in a way a continuous surface can't. Zero-joint technology addresses that one structural detail across offices, schools, healthcare and hospitality settings alike — one construction detail, one shared weak point removed, four sectors that each care about it for their own reasons.
